นอกจากการตรวจสอบของ IUU และการออกหมายเตือนประเทศไทยอย่างเป็นทางการว่ายังไม่ได้มีการออกมาตรการในการจัดการกับปัญหาการทำประมงผิดกฎหมาย (IUU) อย่างเพียงพอตั้งแต่เดือนเมษายน 2015 แล้ว สถานการณ์ในอุตสาหกรรมประมงก็ดูเหมือนจะยิ่งเลวร้ายลงไปอีกเมื่อหน่วยงานทางการของสหรัฐอเมริกา (National Ocean and atmospheric Administration หรือ NOAA) ประกาศว่ากำลังพิจารณาที่จะร่างกฎตามแนวปฏิบัติของ IUU ซึ่งคาดว่าจะมีการนำกฎใหม่นี้มาใช้ในปีหน้า
