นายกอบสิทธิ์ ระบุว่า ในปีนี้ธนาคารฯ คาดว่าเงินบาทเฉลี่ยจะอยู่ที่ระดับ 30.50 บาท/ดอลลาร์สหรัฐฯ โดยจะไม่แข็งค่าไปมากกว่า 30 บาท/ดอลลาร์สหรัฐฯ แต่เงินบาทก็ยังมีแนวโน้มแข็งค่าต่อเนื่อง โดยธนาคารมองว่าการใช้นโยบายทางการเงินในการเข้ามาช่วยทำให้ค่าเงินบาทอ่อนค่าในปัจจุบันเริ่มมีข้อจำกัดและเริ่มใช้ไม่ได้ผล เห็นได้จากการลดอัตราดอกเบี้ยนโยบายของคณะกรรมการนโยบายการเงิน (กนง.) ในการประชุมเดือน ส.ค.ที่ผ่านมา เงินบาทก็ปรับอ่อนค่าได้เพียงช่วงหนึ่ง แต่หลังจากนั้นก็กลับมาแข็งค่าเหมือนเดิม
